We love capturing lens flare. It is one of our favorite techniques because we feel it adds a softness and dreamy feel to an image. Here are a few simple tricks and tips you can use to capture lens flare in your images:
1) Shoot into the sun.
2) Place your model in front of you with their back to the sun
3) If you are shooting in the middle of the day, position yourself fairly low to the ground in order to shoot into the sun!
4) Play and experiment by moving yourself into different positions!
Is there ever too much flare on a photograph? Honestly, that is matter of style and preference! We whole heartily believe in photographing for yourself. Shoot what you love! If it doesn’t work out… no harm done, right? That is the true beauty of digital photography.
